Global Intranet
The board at The Economist Group initiated a project to implement a group wide intranet, which had clear strategic objectives. There was a requirement to build collaboration and business opportunity internally in a way that broke through the established barriers between the groups diverse, global business units.
The Online Solutions team working in association with Blue Sky Communications devised concepts of distinguishing (at top level) the information needed by employees of the Group (both subject to and regardless of business unit, function, seniority and region) against content created by the employees in the course of their work.
Having established the various structures and meta data of the information required to be held within the system during an in-depth Information Architecture (IA) phase, the intranet was designed, developed and implemented.
A year in the making, the intranet has since been deployed throughout The Economist Group in Europe, the USA and Asia for which Online Solutions continues to provide support and development services.
